StepStone Real Estate, filiale dédiée à l’immobilier de la société américaine de capital-investissement StepStone, a annoncé le bouclage du fonds StepStone Real Estate Partners III (SREP III) avec un total de 700 millions de dollars de capitaux. Ce véhicule dépasse ainsi son objectif initial de 500 millions de dollars. En intégrant les capitaux de co-investissements, StepStone disposera de plus de 1,1 millliard de dollars pour mettre en œuvre la stratégie d’investissement du fonds SREP III, orientée vers les situations spéciales aux Etats-Unis et en Europe. Ce fonds a déjà finalisé huit investissements, a précisé la société dans un communiqué.
Le gestionnaire d’actifs espagnol Unigest, filiale du groupe Unicaja Banco, a nommé Elena Martin-Prieto en tant que gérante de fonds de fonds, rapporte le site spécialisé Funds People. L’intéressée assurera la gestion de la gamme de fonds profilés Unifond Conservador, Moderado, Emprendedor et Audaz. Elena Martin-Prieto officiait précédemment en qualité de directrice des produits chez Unicorp Patrimonio, la filiale de banque privée du groupe Unicaja Banco. Au sein d’Unigest, elle travaillera aux côtés d’Almudena Cansado, qui a rejoint la société de gestion en début d’année 2017 en tant que gérante de fonds de fonds pour la gamme Unifond Cartera et Unifond Selección Bolsa. Elena Martin-Prieto est rattachée à Esther Revilla, directrice des investissements d’Unigest.
A l’occasion de la publication de ses résultats 2016, l’assureur Delta Lloyd a indiqué que l’encours de sa division gestion d’actifs (Delta Lloyd Asset Management) ressortait fin décembre 2016 à 71 milliards d’euros, dont 21,4 milliards (- 10 %) pour le compte de tiers et 49,6 milliards (+ 7 %) pour le groupe, contre 70 milliards un an auparavant. Le site spécialisé Fondsnieuws rapporte que la progression est attribuable à l’effet de marché, qui a compensé l’impact de sorties nettes de 843 millions d’euros à l'échelon des fonds et des mandats.Le bénéfice opérationnel de Delta Lloyd AM, pour sa part, a plongé en 2016 de 88 % pour revenir à 7 millions d’euros.

Les trois fonds de pension italiens pour les employés des coopératives, Cooperlavoro, Previcooper et Filcoop, vont fusionner, créant un fonds de pension de 1,8 milliard d’euros d’actifs et de 117.000 membres, rapporte IPE. La fusion a été validée par les associations de coopératives Agci, Confcooperative et Legacoop, et les trois principaux syndicats italiens Cgil, Cisl et Uil. La fusion donne naissance au cinquième fonds de pension en Italie en termes de membres et au huitième en termes d’encours.

ETF Managers Group has recently submitted an application to the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) to launch an ETF dedicated to medical cannabis and the industrial hemp sector. The Emerging AgroSphere ETF will be the first of its kind in the ETF universe.The presentation document indicates that the underlying index will be composed of companies active in research into cannabinol and cannabis derivatives, as well as companies which produce or sell industrial hemp derivatives. The index may also include companies involved in the supply chain for the two aforementioned categories of company. The ETF will be listed on NYSE Arca. The AXA World Funds Mix In Perspectives fund aims to generate long-term value by investing in a universe of equities in international companies which emphasize the best practices in terms of gender diversity. The approach aims to generate financial and stock market value by creating a positive social impact and promoting the most dynamic companies in terms of diversity and inclusion. The manager of the fund, Julie Lamiel, will select securities based on profound fundamental analysis. The objective is to identify companies which, according to AXA IM, offer higher growth potential than the rest of the market, and which have demonstrated a strong engagemment to promote diversity at all levels. The strategy will be managed by teams at AXA IM Framlingon Equities and Socially Responsible Investment. The fund will be available to retail and institutional investors. It has been registered in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Finland, Spain, Italy (institutional clients only), Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden, and will soon be registered in Switzerland and Portugal. It is slated for launch on 28 February.

The initiative will highlight shortfalls in this area, and promote higher levels of financial education in Europe, particularly among young people and entreprenreurs. The founding members of the platform are Better Finance, CFA Institute, Eurochambers, the European Banking Federation (EBF), European Banking & Financial Services Training Association (EBTN), European Fund and Asset Management(EFAMA), European Microfinance Network (EMN), Insurance Europe and JA Europe. The platform will be used as a forum to exchange viewpoints, information, and experience, and is expected to facilitate discussions as to the role of the European Union in promoting financial education in Europe. The platform is open to all participants who share these objectives and wish to contribute to the success of the initiative.
p { margin-bottom: 0.25cm; line-height: 120%; } In third quarter 2016, the GX Private Equity index from State Street has posted overall returns of 3.8%, with every strategy – Buyout, Private Debt and Venture Capital – posting positive performance. “After the record levels of outflows observed in 2014 and 2015, private equity companies are placing their money prudently,” says Will Kinlaw, senior managing director, global head ogf State Street Associates, a division of State Street Global ExchangeSM. “Although the second half of 2016 appears to have shown one of the lowest levels of activity in terms of private equity transactions, positive and significant returns in each of the three categories remain encouraging.” Despite a slowdown in activities, returns on venture capital have risen after two quarters of modest returns, with positive returns of 3.72% (comparedd with 0.28% in second quarter). The Buyout strategy and Private Debt funds, respectively, posted gains of 3.86% (compared with 3.41% in second quarter) and 3.59% (compared with 2.61% in second quarter). Of the three largest strategies, Buyout has the strongest one-year performance, with gains of 10.38% as of the end of September 2016, while venture capital and private debt strategies have posted gains of 4.72% and 6.13%, respectively, in the same period. Private equity funds oriented to Europe have posted strong quarterly perforamnce, with returns denominated in US dollars of 4.08%, compared with 0.67% the previous quarter. Annual returns have also increased, finishing September with 10.82% as of the end of September, compared with 7.27% in the previous quarter. By figures based on data originating directly from companies represented, the index as of 30 September 2016 represented over USD2.5trn in private equity investments, and over 2,600 private equity companies overall.

The announcement is no surprise. In late December, Equistone announced that it was entering exclusive talks with Goldman Sachs to sell it a majority stake in the capital of the firm. “This is the end of a process which has mobilized more than 10 potential investors, funds and industrial actors, and at the conclusion of which the investment fund West Street Capital Partners VII has been selected,” the partners say in a statement. Neither the sale price nor the size of the majority stake have been disclosed. The private equity firm Equistone Partners Europe had acquired Meilleurtaux, an online real estate mortgage and insurance comparison website, in April 2013, in association with the management.

Axa Group recorded in its Asset Management activities net inflows of Euro 45 billion. AXA IM recorded Euro 56 billion of net inflows, mainly driven by Asian Joint Ventures (Euro 38 billion or Euro 15 billion on a group share basis17), and strong inflows from third-party clients (Euro 18 billion), mainly in the institutional channel, said the press release. AB recorded net outflows of Euro 12 billion, mostly from the loss of two large mandates in the institutional channel.Assets under Management amounted to Euro 1,203 billion as of December 31, 2016, up 6% from December 31, 2015, mainly driven by strong net inflows and positive market effects, partly offset by the withdrawal of the second tranche of the Friends Life portfolio at AXA IM. Northern Trust, in collaboration with IBM and other key stakeholders, has launched the first commercial deployment of blockchain technology for the private equity market.While private equity returns can be attractive, the infrastructure supporting private equity has seen little innovation in recent years at a time when investors are seeking greater transparency, security and efficiency, said a press release. To address this need, Northern Trust and IBM built a security-rich blockchain, or distributed ledger solution, based on the Hyperledger Fabric. It is available for use for managing the administration of a private equity fund managed by Unigestion, a Geneva, Switzerland-based asset manager with USD20 billion in assets under management. Northern Trust worked with Unigestion to create a private equity ecosystem designed to deliver increased efficiency, security and transparency – all of which are longstanding challenges.According to Northern trust, the blockchain network provides real-time insight and transparency to all parties, including the fund managers and investors as well as allowing regulatory access when required. Importantly, the blockchain network has been designed to support compliance with current, local regulations. Both government and regulator were kept informed during the development process.

The MI Somerset Global Emerging Markets (ex-Tobacco) fund, which was launched on 20 February, will follow the same investment strategy as the Global Emerging Markets fund, with assets under management currently totalling USD3.2bn. Somerset launched this new strategy at the request of clients seeking to implement an ethical investment strategy. The UCITS fund already has assets of GBP49.5m from a British charity. Due to its ethical approach, the fund is expected to attract bodies of this type as well as local councils and pension fund managers. The strategy will be managed by the cofounder of the asset management firm, Edward Robertson, who will rely on the investment expertise of 17 people bawed in London and Singapore. Assets under management at Somerset Capital Management currently total about USD8bn.

Efforts are now concentrating on the Middle East, Europe and Switzerland, with the objective of obtaining critical mass in each market.
Les nouveaux plans d’épargne individuels italiens (piani individuali di risparmio ou PIR) pourraient récolter 16 milliards d’euros auprès des investisseurs particuliers et institutionnels, estime Assogestioni, qui a organisé mercredi matin un colloque sur ces nouvelles enveloppes dédiées à l’épargne, rapporte Milano Finanza. « Nous estimons qu’environ 6 milliards d’euros pourraient arriver des caisses et fonds de pension, vu que la réglementation permet aussi à ces organismes de profiter des avantages fiscaux dans la limite de 5 % de leurs actifs, qui s’élèvent à 200 milliards d’euros. Et nous, prudemment, nous sommes partis sur une hypothèse de 3 % », a expliqué Tommaso Corcos, président d’Assogestioni, l’association italienne de la gestion d’actifs. Pour le retail, les estimations sont de 10 milliards d’euros de collecte. Les PIR ont été lancés pour inciter les Italiens à épargner et pour canaliser cette épargne vers les entreprises italiennes.
La société de gestion Somerset Capital Management, basée à Londres et spécialisée sur l’univers émergent, vient de lancer un fonds d’actions émergentes qui va exclure tous les investissements dans l’industrie du tabac. Le fonds MI Somerset Global Emerging Markets (ex-Tobacco), qui a été lancé le 20 février, suivra la même stratégie d’investissement que le fonds Global Emerging Markets, dont les actifs sous gestion s'élèvent actuellement à 3,2 milliards de dollars.Somerset a lancé cette nouvelle stratégie à la demande de clients désireux de mettre en oeuvre une stratégie d’investissement éthique. Le fonds Ucits affiche d’ores et déjà un encours de 49,5 millions de livres émanant d’une organisation caritative britannique. Northern Trust, IBM et Unigestion ont lancé le premier déploiement commercial d’une technologie blockchain pour le marché du private equity. La solution, basée sur le « Hyperledger Fabric », une technologie blockchain en open source, sera utilisée pour un fonds de private equity basé à Guernesey et géré par Unigestion. Elle vise à fournir une efficacité, une sécurité et une transparence accrues. « Elle permet au fonds de transférer ses participations et d’être géré, desservi et audité tout le long du cycle de vie de l’investissement sur une plate-forme transparente offrant « une version de la vérité » aux participants qui peuvent y accéder par des moyens sécurisés », explique un communiqué. Idinvest Partners, l’ex-AGF Private Equity qui gère aujourd’hui 7 milliards d’euros, met le cap vers l’Asie et a ainsi entamé des discussions avec les grands institutionnels chinois et coréens, rapporte le quotidien économique Les Echos. La société d’investissement mène aussi des « négociations exclusives avec des fonds souverains, des compagnies d’assurance et d’autres grands partenaires », explique aux Echos Christophe Bavière, président du directoire d’Idinvest Partners. Ces discussions, qui doivent déboucher d’ici à décembre prochain, portent notamment sur la création de fonds sur mesure pour ces partenaires désireux d’investir en Europe.Pour approcher ces partenaires et accompagner le développement de ses participations en Chine, Idinvest doit annoncer, aujourd’hui, l’ouverture d’un nouveau bureau à Shanghai. « Notre enjeu est d’amener des PME locales de notre portefeuille à devenir globales », indique Christophe Bavière. La Chine est sa deuxième implantation hors des frontières françaises, après l’Allemagne il y a quelques semaines. « La prochaine étape se situera plus au sud de l’Europe », avance le dirigeant.
Le groupe nordique Jyske Capital a lancé une version Ucits de son fonds multi classe d’actifs international afin de s’adresser à une audience plus large, a appris Citywire Selector. Le nouveau fonds va répliquer le fonds Jyske Capital International Stable Strategy de 253 millions d’euros, lancé en 2000 pour les investisseurs danois.
La succursale italienne de Raiffeisen Capital Management va distribuer en Italie des fonds de sociétés de gestion autrichiennes tierces, rapporte Funds People Italia.
