The weeks are lining up, but not falling into line. After moving into equities, investors have given way to a more cautious attitude in the week ending on 7 March. Money market funds continued to profit from hesitations on the part of investors, with net inflows of over USD20bn. Money market fund assets rose by USD260bn in the past six months, to a total of USD2.9trn, their highest level since 2010, a weekly study by Bank of America Merril Lynch Global Research reports, citing statistics communicated by the global flow evolution monitoring specialist EPFR Global.Meanwhile, inflows to the major asset classes were meagre. Meanwhile, funds dedicated to Japanese equities have continued to do well, with net inflows of USD4.1bn. However, funds of treasury inflation-protected securities (TIPS) posted net inflows of USD0.6bn, for positive inflows in 19 out of the past 20 weeks.
