Conséquence de la scission partielle d’une joint-venture avec Banca Generali, le groupe Generali a annoncé vendredi 11 juillet le lancement d une nouvelle société de gestion d’actifs basée au Luxembourg. Generali Investments Luxembourg S.A. sera dédiée aux OPCVM et aux fonds alternatifs domiciliés au Luxembourg afin de soutenir l’activité mondiale de Generali Investments Europe S.p.A. SGR (GIE), l’entité de gestion d’actifs du groupe Generali. La nouvelle société qui se définit comme «un centre à destination des entreprises transfrontalières qui ont des distributeurs et des investisseurs institutionnels internationaux», aura pour vocation d’optimiser le développement des canaux des distributeurs et des plateformes de gestion de richesse internationaux pour GIE. Elle sera la société de gestion pour la gamme de produits du Luxembourg (qui représente 14 milliards d’euros d’actifs), parmi lesquels Generali Investments SICAV, le fonds transfrontalier à compartiments multiples. La société sera principalement en charge du risk management, de l’assistance commerciale, juridique et réglementaire, ainsi que du contrôle des activités déléguées, alors que la gestion de portefeuilles sera assurée par Generali Investments Europe, indique un communiqué.La direction générale de la société de gestion a été confiée à Pierre Bouchoms qui travaillait auparavant chez PricewaterhouseCoopers en tant que directeur Global Fund Services.
L’assureur Generali cède à l'établissement brésilien Banco BTG Pactual la totalité de sa participation dans la banque privée BSI, pour un montant de 1,5 milliards de francs suisses. La transaction se décompose pour 1,2 milliards de francs en cash et pour le solde en titres de la banque brésilienne, indique un communiqué publié lundi 14 juillet. L’opération qui est soumise aux approbations réglementaires devrait être achevée d’ici le premier semestre de 2015. Elle s’inscrit dans le cadre de la stratégie de Generali de se concentrer sur ses activités d’assurance de base. En un an et demi, Generali aura conclu un programme de cessions portant sur 3,7 milliards d’euros d’actifs hors assurance. L’opération aura également un effet positif sur le ratio de solvabilité Solvency I de l’assureur, qui augmentera de 9 points à plus de 160%BSI est une banque privée suisse disposant de 90 milliards de francs d’actifs sous gestion. L'établissement emploie près de 2000 personnes et compte plus de 400 gestionnaires de patrimoine. Son siège est basé à Lugano et BSI possède des bureaux en Europe, en Amérique latine, Hong Kong et Singapour. Pour sa part, BTG Pactual est une institution financière active notamment dans la gestion de fortune. Elle compte plus de 2800 employés, et est basée en Amérique latine, en Europe, Usa, Hong Kong et Singapour. La capitalisation boursière du groupe est d’environ 14 milliards de dollars.
La société de gestion italienne indépendante Anima Holding a annoncé avoir enregistré une collecte nette d’environ 470 millions d’euros au mois de juin, portant ainsi à près de 5 milliards d’euros les souscriptions nettes engrangées au cours du premier semestre 2014. Anima fait ainsi mieux en six mois que sur l’ensemble de l’exercice 2013 au cours duquel sa collecte nette s’était établie à 3,44 milliards d’euros. Grâce à cette performance, ses actifs sous gestion dépassent les 53,4 milliards d’euros à fin juin, soit une progression de 15% par rapport à fin 2013 et de 29% par rapport au premier semestre 2013.

According to data from Europerformance-SIX Telekurs for June, French-registered funds have posted net outflows of EUR10.86bn (a variation in assets of -1.41%), for which the money market asset class is nearly single-handedly responsible. Net outflows from these categories totalled EUR10.70bn (a decline in assets under management of 3.36%). In a virtually symbolic manner compared to outflows, all equity funds also posted outflows. They lost EUR42.72m (a decline in assets under management of 1.11%). Only bond funds convinced investors. Overall, these posted net subscriptions of EUR1.39bn.

In the month of May, the European fund industry overall has posted net inflows of EUR35.3bn. The Italian market has posted the strongest net inflows in May, with EUR4bn of inflows, followed by Spain (+EUR2.8bn) and France (+EUR2.2bn). In the 33 European countries covered by the study, eight posted a net outflow in the period, including Switzerland (-EUR1.6bn), the Netherlands (-EUR0.4bn) and Belgium (-EUR0.1bn). In terms of asset classes, as the previous month, bond funds contributed the most positively, as in May they posted EUR18.6bn of incoming net inflows. Provisional figures for funds domiciled in Luxembourg and Ireland suggest that bond funds continued to attract the largest inflows in June. The establishments which attracted the largest inflows in May were BlackRock, with EUR3.4bn in net inflows, followed by UBS and UniCredit/Pioneer, which each posted inflows of EUR1.3bn.

Jim Firn, general counsel in charge of products worldwide and head of the product range and governance for the EMEA region (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa), left the business earlier this month, Financial News reports. Firn, who joined Russell Investments in 1988, co-ordinated legal issues, compliance, risk management and internal auditing for the region. His responsibilities will be taken over by Mark Smith, current director in charge of compliance for the EMEA region, who joined the asset management firm in Septemner 2013, the British website reports.

This growth is due both to market effects and inflows, in all distribution channels (institutional and retail). For its part, Franklin Templeton Investments has announced assets under management of USD920.5bn as of the end of June, up by 1.35% month on month. Invesco has also posted an increase in its assets of 1.6%, to USD802.4bn. Lastly, Legg Mason has announced that its asstes under management total USD704.3bn as of the end of June 2014, compared with USD701.8bn as of the end of March, and USD679.5bn as of the end of 2013. Growth in assets for Legg Mason in June were driven by inflows of USD9.6bn to liquidity, and about USD500m to bond funds, while equity funds saw outflows of about USD200m.

SGR (GIE), the asset management entity of the Generali group. The new entity, which is defined as “a centre for cross-border businesses which have distributors and international instutional investors,” will aim to optimise the development of distribution channels and international wealth management platforms for GIE. The firm will serve as the asset management firm for the range of Luxembourg products (which represents EUR14bn in assets), including Generali Investments SICAV, the cross-border umbrella fund. The firm will primarily be responsible for risk management, commercial, legal and regulatory assistance, as well as controlling of outsourced activities, when portfolio management is provided by Generali Investments Europe, a statement says. The global maangement of the asset management firm has been entrusted to Pierre Bouchoms, who previously worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers as director of Global Fund Services.

Since 2006, he had been working at the Swiss private bank, where he managed the UBAM Emerging Market Bond and UBAM Local Currency Emerging Market Bond funds. The two funds will now be managed by Wil Nef.

The market operator has published a circular, which describes guidelines for the use of this hedging tool, according to the Shanghai Securities Journal, cited by Asia Asset Management. The document details the use of ETF options, including risk controlling, collateral management and position limits. According to several local media sources, the first ETF option may be launched by the end of August 2014. For now, the Shanghai Stock Exchange divides investors who are eligible for ETF options into three categories: individual investors, institutional investors in the larger sense, and lastly, “special” institutional investors. The market operator plans to set a ceiling on positions on ETF options of no more than 10% of the total valuation of an investor’s assets.

The group of associations accuses ESMA of failing to take into account some of the clauses passes in its proposals, and of introducing a major sticking-point for distribution of financial products. “In some cases, the directive provides for indirect remuneration from the adviser to be allowed if they are clearly presented to the client, improve the quality of the service provided, and of course do not run contrary to the investor’s interests. The ESMA proposal would in practice prohibit them in all cases. We would like this restrictive interpretation by ESMA not to be retained at the conclusion of the current consultation, or, failing that, that it not be followed by the European Commission,” the statement says.
p { margin-bottom: 0.1in; line-height: 120%; } The British group Friends Life Group on 11 July announced that it has sold its Luxembourg affiliate Lombard International Assurance, a pan-European life insurance specialist which offers wealth planning solutions to high net worth clients, to the investment fund Blackstone. Blackstone will pay an initial sum of GBP317m (EUR399m). The operation, which is subject to the approval of the regulatory authorities, may be finalised in the second half of 2014, Friends Life says in a statement. As of the end of 2013, Lombard had GBP20.2bn in assets under administration. Last year, Lombard contributed GBP34bn to the operating profits at Friends Life.

Les contreparties pourraient avoir jusqu'à 3 ans pour se préparer, les entreprises très utilisatrices de dérivés disposant du plus grand délai.
Les prix des principaux produits végétaux devraient continuer de baisser sur les deux prochaines années, puis se stabiliser au-dessus du niveau observé avant 2008, mais très en deçà des sommets atteints dernièrement, selon la dernière édition des Perspectives agricoles de l’OCDE et de la FAO. La demande de produits agricoles devrait rester ferme mais progresser moins rapidement qu’au cours de la décennie écoulée. Asie et Amérique latine en tête, les régions en développement assureront plus de 75% de l’accroissement de la production agricole sur les dix prochaines années.
Les encours du gestionnaire ont diminué de 9% au premier semestre à 49 milliards d’euros. La société a pâti d’une décollecte de 5,2 milliards. Les actifs de son fonds phare Carmignac Patrimoine sont passés de 27 à 23 milliards d’euros en six mois, pénalisés par une performance semestrielle (+3,5%) inférieure à celle de l’indice de référence. C’est aussi le cas pour Carmignac Emerging Patrimoine, Carmignac Emergents et les deux fonds actions globales Carmignac Investissement et Carmignac Investissement Latitude (le seul à afficher une performance négative). La société de gestion a souligné que 60% de ses fonds surperforment leur indice.

La London Bullion Market Association, l’institution qui supervise les marchés londonien de l’or et de l’argent, a annoncé vendredi avoir confié au Chicago Mercantile Exchange et à Thomson Reuters le soin de gérer le nouveau mécanisme de fixation des prix de l’argent. Cette décision fait suite à une vaste consultation des intervenants du marché. Le nouveau fixing sera électronique et basé sur des enchères. L’ancien fixing de l’argent, traité par téléphone entre une poignée de banques, a dû être abandonné après le retrait de Deutsche Bank du panel.
A l’issue d’un appel d’offres, le fonds de pension Stichting Pensioenfonds TNO (le fonds de pension pour l’Organisation des Pays Bas pour la Recherche en Sciences Appliquées) a sélectionné Kempen Capital Management afin de lui fournir un service de contrôle et de suivi pour son portefeuille immobilier non-coté international, selon un communiqué de la société de gestion. Outre ce service de suivi de portefeuille, Kempen fournira au fonds de pension du conseil stratégique et sélectionnera de nouveaux investissements.
