The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) has selected Invesco Real Estate as a new manager for its Multifamily Real Estate Program. The partnership, named Institutional Core Multifamily Investors, will invest in multifamily properties, focused in the western US region. The Institutional Core Multifamily Investors partnership is a multiyear program that will fund with an initial allocation of $250 million. The partnership will seek to build a stable income-oriented portfolio of institutional-quality core apartment assets focusing on select target markets in the West and Midwest U.S. CalPERS currently holds approximately $2 billion in assets in its multifamily program, with a total of $24.5 billion in the Real Assets portfolio.

He reports to Jeanne Asseraf-Bilton, global head of cross asset research.Koyfman says on his LinkedIn profile that his specialities are macro analysis, the transposition of macro convictions on ETFs and equities, backtesting, transversal analysis of asset classes, and options.Before joining Citi in June 2010, he spent one year as a senior strategist at Caxton Associates, after six years at Goldman Sachs.
P { margin-bottom: 0.08in; } The US asset management firm Direxion (USD6.5bn) on 1 May listed two inverse triple leveraged ETFs for trading, the Direxion Daily Brazil Bear 3x Shares (ticker: BRZS) and Direxion Daily South Korea Bear 3x Shares (KORZ).The first of these funds seeks to replicate 300% of the inverse of the performance of the MSCI Brazil 25/50 index, on a daily basis and before fees, while the second has the same objective with the MSCI Korea 25/50 as its benchmark, according to a press release.Both funds charge fees of 1%.

Net redemptions to institutional clients, excluding Phoenix, represented GBP1.248bn.However, due to positive market and currency effects, which represented GBP4.496bn for the group, of which GBP2.839bn were for retail products, assets increased by GBP68.877bn as of 31 March, compared with GBP65.65bn as of 1 January, of which GBP33.293bn, compared with GBP30.266bn, were for retail.

Institutional clients represent EUR19.8bn, while OPCs represent EUR10.3bn, and the private bank has EUR4.1bn. The asset management unit shows a slight profit, but the cost/income ratio deteriorated to 58% in first quarter, still far from its objective of 45%.

Axa Investment Managers has announced the appointment of Garry Murdoch as global head of compliance.Based in London, he will be responsible for the coordination of the compliance teams internationally, working in close association with Axa IM’s legal and risk management departments, according to a press statement. He will report to Christian Gissler, global head of risks and controls, who has overall responsibility for a division which combines risk management, legal affairs, compliance, and lobbying.Garry Murdoch joins Axa IM from the Financial Services Authority where he was a technical specialist in the Asset Management Department, responsible for leading thematic projects and reviews on issues of relevance to the industry. Prior to this, he built over 17 years’ experience in compliance roles. He was director of international compliance at AllianceBernstein Ltd (formerly Alliance Capital Limited) where he managed the firm’s international compliance departments from 2002 to 2008.

P { margin-bottom: 0.08in; } According to Investment Week, Managing Partners Limited (MPL) has suspended redemptions from its Traded Policies fund “in the interests of current and future shareholders,” in the form of a temporary “gate.”The fund, which invests in a portfolio of traded life insurance policies (TLP), has generated annualised returns of 8.94% on average since its launch in July 2004.In November, the FSA announced that it would be prohibiting sales of TLPs to retail investors, as they are considered “high risk and toxic.”

L’Irlande a abaissé ses prévisions de croissance pour les trois prochaines années, invoquant la récession sévère que traversent d’autres pays européens. L'économie irlandaise progressera de 1,3% au lieu de la hausse prévue de 1,5% annoncée en décembre. En 2014, la croissance devrait atteindre 2,4% et 2,8% l’année suivante.
Le Portugal prévoit un effort supplémentaire de réduction des dépenses publiques de 2,8 milliards d’euros en 2014 et le pays veut continuer de faire des économies jusqu’en 2016, soit au-delà du programme d’aide international dont Lisbonne espère sortir l’année prochaine. L’Etat grec a bouclé la cession de 33% du capital qu’il détenait dans Opap, le monopole des jeux, au fonds Emma Delta pour un montant de 712 millions d’euros. Emma Delta, contrôlé par l’investisseur tchèque Jiri Smejc et l’investisseur grec George Melisanidis, aurait relevé son offre initiale de 622 millions après l'éviction de Third Point. L’Autorité des marchés financiers a donné son aval aux «dispositions» du règlement de déontologie de l’AFG, qui s’appliquent aux sociétés de gestion d’OPCVM d’épargne salariale, et a décidé de l’étendre à toutes les sociétés de gestion de portefeuille. L’indice PMI officiel des directeurs d’achats de l’industrie manufacturière a baissé en avril à 50,6 après un plus haut de 11 mois de 50,9 en mars, en ligne avec les prévisions du consensus mais traduisant un ralentissement de la croissance du secteur au début du deuxième trimestre. Crédit Agricole Assurances acquiert une participation de 20 % du capital de Frey, foncière cotée spécialisée dans le développement de retail parks de nouvelle génération. La collecte nette des pôles de gestion de fortune du groupe UBS s’est élevée au premier trimestre à environ 24 milliards de francs suisses, leur plus haut niveau depuis 2007, selon un communiqué publié le 30 avril. Le bénéfice net s’est inscrit à 988 millions de francs suisses, en recul de 4,5% sur un an mais largement au-dessus des attentes des analystes.Wealth Management a enregistré un résultat avant impôts de 664 millions de francs suisses au premier trimestre 2013 contre 398 millions au trimestre précédent. La collecte nette de 15 milliards de francs est la lus importante depuis 2007.Wealth Management Americas a enregistré un bénéfice avant impôts de 251 millions de dollars contre un bénéfice avant impôts de 216 millions de dollars au trimestre précédent. Cette amélioration traduit une réduction de 3% des charges d’exploitation en raison notamment de provisions moindres pour actions en justice, questions réglementaires et similaires. La collecte nette s’est améliorée à 9,2 milliards de dollars.Global Asset Management a enregistré un bénéfice avant impôts de 190 millions de francs au premier trimestre 2013, contre 148 millions de francs au quatrième trimestre 2012. Hors placements monétaires, le pôle affiche une collecte nette de 5,1 milliards de francs suisses, contre une décollecte nette de 3,8 milliards de francs au trimestre précédent.
