Certains fonds affiliés à Apollo Global Management ont conclu un partenariat stratégique avec Realty Partners afin d’investir de manière sélective sur le marché immobilier italien, ont annoncé hier les deux partenaires. La stratégie des deux partenaires consiste à investir dans des actifs présentant un potentiel de valorisation (conversion, restructuration, repositionnement du marché). Le fonds norvégien Government Pension Fund Global (GPFG) est en retard en matière d’égalité hommes-femmes, rapporte le site danois AMWatch, citant le journal norvégien Dagens Nyheter. Norges Bank Investment Management, qui gère le fonds, a une proportion inégale de femmes par rapport aux hommes, que ce soit pour le nombre total d’employés et de dirigeants. Les inégalités concernent aussi les salaires. Dagens Nyheter rapporte que seulement 30 % des 573 employés de NBIM sont des femmes, soit moins que l’objectif de 40 %. La rémunération totale de Luke Ellis a bondi de 54 % à 6,22 millions de dollars, dont un salaire de 1,1 million et un bonus de 2,6 millions. Carton plein pour LGT, le groupe de gestion d’actifs et de patrimoine de la Maison princière du Liechtenstein. L’an dernier, la collecte nette hors acquisitions s’est élevée à 17,7 milliards de francs suisses, ce qui correspond à une croissance organique de 12%, selon un communiqué publié ce 12 mars. Les actifs sous gestion se sont accrus de 49,7 milliards de francs ou 33% et ont passé la barre des 200 milliards de francs pour s'établir à 201,8 milliards de francs. Ce montant de 49,7 comprend, outre la collecte nette, en encours de 18,3 milliards de francs lié aux acquisitions des activités de banque privée d’ABN Amro et de celles de European Capital Fund Management. La ligne de métier gestion d’actifs représente désormais plus d’un quart des encours, souligne le communiqué.Le résultat d’exploitation a fait un bond de 27% à 1,53 milliard de francs et le bénéfice du groupe ressort à 283,4 millions de francs, en hausse de 23% d’une année sur l’autre. Le ratio d’exploitation est resté stable à environ 74%.

Swiss bank UBS has told employees that the majority of those affected by Brexit will move to Frankfurt from London, setting out what it called a decentralised approach to relocating staff. The moves are expected to affect fewer than 200 UBS staff, a source familiar with the plans told Reuters. UBS employs around 5,000 people in London. Staff affected will be informed in the next few months and relocations will depend on where clients are based, according to a company memo seen by Reuters. Separately, the Swiss bank said in its annual report on Friday that it will merge UBS Limited, its British entity, into UBS Europe SE, its German headquartered European bank, in the absence of a transition deal between Britain and the EU. That would take place prior to Britain leaving the European Union on 29 March, 2019. «After a thorough analysis, which included your feedback, we have opted for a more decentralized model and plan to leverage our existing UBS Europe SE and its extensive branch network,» UBS’s investment banking chief Andrea Orcel said in the memo.

The major bank has raised the possibility as it changes its legal structure, to reorient its activities and also its currency management strategy, it explains. The group may adopt the dollar as the operating currency for the second half of 2018. The London office would switch over from pounds sterling to US dollars. This would also involve a change in the currency in which results are presented for the group and for UBS SA, with an adjustment to the previous figures on the basis of historic currency exchange rates. The modification would not have a major impact on capitalisation and performance indicators, UBS says.
Catella AB has, through Catella Property Fund Management AB, signed a share purchase agreement to acquire a majority stake in the leading UK real estate investment and asset management company, Apam. Closing of the transaction requires regulatory approval and other conditions to be fulfilled.Apam has experienced fast growth over recent years and had revenues of approximately GBP 7 million during the calendar year 2017. CPFM has agreed to acquire 75% of the shares in Apam for a price corresponding to GBP 18 million, on a debt and cash free basis. A non-refundable down payment of the purchase price of GBP 2.7 million was made at signing, while the remaining amount is to be paid in cash upon completion. Catella is not obligated to complete the transaction according to the agreement but it is expected to complete during second half of 2018, subject to necessary regulatory approval having been obtained from the financial supervisory authority in Luxembourg, Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF).Apam is an independent real estate investment and asset manager operating exclusively in the UK market with a combination of skills to offer clients an ‘end to end’ approach to support their investment strategy. Apam has assets under management of GBP 1.4 billion and 41 employees.Simon Cooke and William Powell, founders and executive directors of Apam, will remain shareholders in Apam, each with 12.5% of the share capital and voting power after the transaction. The details of the operation have not been disclosed. Astorg becomes a shareholder in the company alongside the Chinese pharmaceutical business Inner Mongolia FuRui, which remains the shareholder of reference. Echosens, based in Paris, was founded in 2001 by Laurent Sandrin. The firm now has affiliates in the United States, its largest market, and in China. In 2017, Echosens generated earnings of EUR66m, up 27% compared with 2016.

The weeks are lining up, but not falling into line. After moving into equities, investors have given way to a more cautious attitude in the week ending on 7 March. This wait-and-see attitude has been motivated by protectionist language from the White House and increasingly clear movements of monetary policy toward an end to quantitative easing. Money market funds continued to profit from hesitations on the part of investors, with net inflows of over USD20bn. Money market fund assets rose by USD260bn in the past six months, to a total of USD2.9trn, their highest level since 2010, a weekly study by Bank of America Merril Lynch Global Research reports, citing statistics communicated by the global flow evolution monitoring specialist EPFR Global.Meanwhile, inflows to the major asset classes were meagre. Equity funds in all geographical regions combined saw net outflows of USD0.4bn, while bond funds in all categories combned finished the week with redemptions of USD0.1bn, and gold funds attracted USD0.4bn. However, it has been observed that on the equity side, funds of US equities have seen massive redemptions of over USD10bn. Meanwhile, funds dedicated to Japanese equities have continued to do well, with net inflows of USD4.1bn. Emerging market equity funds continued to see inflows of USD0.8bn, while European equity funds had to settle for positive net inflows of only USD100m.In fixed income, high yield bond funds had an eighth consecutive week of net outflows, this time totalling slightly over USD3bn. However, funds of treasury inflation-protected securities (TIPS) posted net inflows of USD0.6bn, for positive inflows in 19 out of the past 20 weeks. Emerging market debt funds attracted only USD0.1bn.

In a previous document, seen early last week, three countries – Bahrain, the Marshall Islands, and Santa Lucia – were removed from the black list. In January, eight countries were removed from the list, which had originally included 17 names, when it was created in December. After the approval of European finance ministers, expected tomorrow, Tuesday, there will be nine countries remaining: the Bahamas, Guam, the US Virgin Islands, Namibia, Saint Kitta and Nevis, Samoa, American Samoa, and Trinity and Tobago.

Equistone, l’ancienne équipe européenne de Barclays, a levé 2,8 milliards d’euros pour son troisième fonds entre novembre et février, rapporte le quotidien Les Echos. Ces capitaux ont été apportés par 56 « clients », à l’instar de PSRS, un fonds de pension des employés de Pennsylvanie. Spécialisé sur les cibles valorisées entre 50 et 500 millions d’euros, le fonds avait levé un montant deux fois moins élevé au moment de sa sortie du giron de la banque britannique en 2012.
