Crédit Suisse innove dans la facturation des services de gestion privée, en faisant payer le conseil de manière autonome, rapporte L’Agefi suisse. La banque offrira dès avril 2015 quatre niveaux d’intensité de service, avec des grilles tarifaires distinctes. Les frais de garde et de courtage seront abaissés de manière à permettre un recul des frais pour la plupart des clients, affirme la banque.Ce vendredi, tous les clients de gestion privée de Crédit Suisse recevront une lettre les informant qu’ils auront jusqu’en juin 2016 pour choisir leur profil dans le nouveau modèle de tarification. Et à partir d’avril 2015, ceux qui se seront déterminés verront apparaître une nouvelle ligne sur leur relevé bancaire: les frais de placement, c’est-à-dire une commission rémunérant le conseil fourni par la banque. C’est à ce moment-là qu’entrera progressivement en vigueur la nouvelle offre tarifaire de Crédit Suisse dans la gestion privée. Fini le package comprenant les droits de garde et les frais de transaction (ce qui permet de subventionner le conseil); chaque élément sera facturé de façon distincte, selon des pourcentages définis en fonction du profil du client. Dans ce cadre, les frais de garde et de transaction sont considérablement abaissés, de manière à non seulement compenser les nouveaux frais de conseil, mais à assurer un recul du tarif global pour la plupart des clients, assure Crédit Suisse. Une baisse de 20% à 25% dans les simulations présentées à la presse hier à Genève.
Les investisseurs institutionnels attendent beaucoup des marchés émergents en termes de rendement. Selon une enquête d’ING Investment Management auprès de 102 institutionnels, citée par Das Investment, 61 % des sondés prévoient que le nombre de sociétés issues de pays émergents et distribuant de fortes dividendes va augmenter d’ici à 2016. 14 % s’attendent même à une «forte hausse». Le niveau des dividendes inspire lui aussi de l’optimisme, puisque 68 % des investisseurs interrogés pensent qu’il devrait augmenter au cours des cinq prochaines années. 18 % anticipent une «forte hausse du niveau des dividendes».
Le groupe de services financiers taiwanais Cathay Financial Holding a annoncé le 12 novembre que le conseil d’administration de sa filiale Cathay Life Insurance a approuvé l’acquisition de Conning Holdings, un gestionnaire d’actifs américain spécialisé dans l’industrie de l’assurance. Selon les termes de l’accord, Cathay Financial va racheter Conning pour 240 millions de dollars auprès de fonds gérés par Aquiline Capital Partners, une société de capital investissement basée à New York. Grâce à cette opération, Cathay Financial fait main basse sur 92 milliards de dollars d’actifs sous gestion. A l’issue de la transaction, Conning continuera d’opérer en tant que société indépendante au sein du groupe Cathay et sera toujours présidé par Woody Bradford et son équipe de direction actuelle, précise Cathay Financial dans un communiqué. Les deux sociétés se connaissent bien puisqu’elles ont créé, en 2011, une coentreprise basé à Hong Kong pour cibler les clients asiatiques présents à Taiwan, en Chine, en Corée du Sud, au Japon et au Vietnam. A cette époque, Cathay avait acquis 9,9 % du capital de Conning pour environ 19 millions de dollars.L’opération, sous réserve d’obtenir l’aval des autorités de régulation, devrait être finalisée au second semestre 2015.
La société d’investissement américaine Starwood Capital et le groupe chinois de tourisme et de voyage Jin Jiang International Holdings (2006.HK) ont annoncé le 12 novembre avoir signé un accord portant sur la cession de Groupe du Louvre et de sa filiale indirecte à 100% Louvre Hotels Group à Jin Jiang. Le montant de l’opération envisagée n’a pas été dévoilé. Le projet est soumis à la consultation du comité central d’entreprise de Louvre Hotels Group, précise un communiqué. Starwood avait acheté Louvre Hotels Group en 2005, pour 3,2 milliards de dollars. Groupe leader du tourisme et du voyage en Chine, Jin Jiang International Holdings est présent sur trois activités principales : l’investissement et la gestion hôtelière, les services touristiques, le transport et la logistique. Il possède et exploite plus de 1.700 hôtels dans 11 pays. Louvre Hotels Group est le deuxième groupe hôtelier en Europe, avec un réseau de plus de 1.100 hôtels (plus de 90.000 chambres) dans plus de 40 pays à travers le monde.En novembre 2011, Louvre Hotels Group et Jin Jiang International Holdings ont mis en place un partenariat commercial qui a notamment permis le lancement d’un programme de co-branding dans une sélection d’hôtels de grandes villes chinoises et françaises. Ce partenariat visait à accroître la visibilité de Louvre Hotels Group et Jin Jiang dans leurs marchés respectifs, et à favoriser le développement du tourisme hôtelier entre la France et la Chine, constituant ainsi une base solide pour l’opération potentielle présentée aujourd’hui.La réalisation de l’opération, via la filiale de Starwood Star SDL Investment Co, pourrait avoir lieu au cours du premier trimestre 2015. La procédure d’information et de consultation du comité central d’entreprise de Louvre Hotels Group en France, relative à l’opération, sera lancée immédiatement. Jin Jiang International est conseillé par Shearman & Sterling.
Jean-François Dubos, l’ex-président du directoire de Vivendi, rejoint le conseil d’administration du fonds français de venture SGH, selon Les Echos. Le quotidien indique que SGH veut lever 100 millions d’euros au travers d’un nouveau fonds d’investissement, en début d’année prochaine. Environ 75 millions d’euros seraient déjà promis par des investisseurs.
Les dons des gérants de hedge funds à des organisations de charité ont atteint près de 65 millions de dollars en 2012, indique le quotidien Les Echos, qui estime que ces gérants recherchent un retour sur investissement de leur générosité. Selon une étude (« What happens when your money manager gives money away ? An analysis of hedge fund managers’ charitable donations», Vikas Agarwal, Yan Lu, Sugata Ray), un hedge fund qui fait des dons à des oeuvres de charité enregistre par la suite 20 % de plus de souscriptions par an qu’un fonds qui n’en a pas fait.
Les investissements détenus par la Libyan Investment Authority (LIA) dans trois fonds de la Société Générale pour un montant d'1,8 milliard de dollars, ne valent plus que 1,05 milliard de dollars, rapporte La Tribune sur son site. Devant le tribunal de commerce de Londres, qui a tenu mercredi 12 novembre une audience préliminaire dans cette affaire, le fonds souverain libyen affirme qu’une partie de ses pertes serait imputable à la SocGen, coupable de corruption. Le fonds accuse notamment la banque française d’avoir versé au moins 58 millions de dollars à Leinada, une structure basée au Panama et dirigée par Walid Giahmi, un proche de Seif al-islam Kadhafi, fils du leader libyen «en contrepartie de supposés services de conseil» portant sur l’investissement par le fonds libyen de 2,1 milliards de dollars (1,7 milliard d’euros) dans des obligations émises par la Société Générale et plusieurs de ses filiales entre fin 2007 et mi-2009. La Société Générale a rejeté ces allégations «dénuées de fondement» et affirmé qu’elle défendrait «ses intérêts avec la plus grande fermeté». Le fonds libyen pour sa part réclame 1,5 milliard de dollars (1,2 milliard d’euros) à la Société Générale, à trois de ses filiales, à Walid Giahmi et à l’entreprise panaméenne.

The banking group finishes ahead of BBVA (EUR371.8m in net subscriptions), Allianz (EUR335.2m), CaixaBank (EUR206m) and lastly, Kutxabank (EUR162.89m). At the other extreme, driven down by the departure of multiple managers, Bestinver has seen the heaviest monthly inflows, with EUR485.9m in net outflows. It is followed by Santander (-EUR187.5m), Barclays (-EUR66.6m), Nova Banco (-EUR23.9m) and lastly, GVC Gaesco (-EUR9.6m).

The product, launched in Luxembourg one year ago, was created by three fund managers poached at Standard Life Investments in 2012: David Millar, Save Jubb and Richard Batty. Due to the renown of these managers, the fund has had a strong start: the Luxembourg sub-fund has raised EUR350m. Overall, the multi-asset team, with eight members, has USD1bn in assets under management. “The portfolio is invested in 20 to 30 ideas in all asset classes worldwide,” explains Georgina Taylor, director of products on the multi-asset team at Invesco, on a visit to Paris. “We don’t see the world in terms of asset classes,” she says. “We have two explicit objectives which we seek to respect: annual returns 5% above the Euribor three-monht over three years, and volatility less than half that of the equity marktes.” The arrival of this fund in the French product range comes at the end of a busy year for the Paris-based team. It has seen net inflows of USD1.6bn since the beginning of the year, while European inflows total USD31bn.
In September, mixed-asset funds enjoyed net inflows of EUR8.6bn, and were the best selling asset class in Europe, according to statistics from Lipper. Within this range, asset allocation funds were the most popular with investors, with +EUR2.9bn.Overall, long-term funds (excluding money market funds) raised EUR3.2bn, a level which is down sharply from the first eight months of the year. Bond funds saw meagre inflows compared with the rest of the year, with +EUR1.6bn, while equity funds saw outflows of EUR5.3bn.Money market funds faced net outflows of EUR12bn.In terms of asset management firm, Vanguard was the best selling group of long-term funds for September, with +EUR1.5bn, ahead of Amundi (+EUR1.2bn), DeAWM (+EUR1.1bn) and Nordea (+EUR1bn). Vanguard benefited from the success of its Vanguard FTSE 100 ETF, which is one of the top 10 selling funds in the month of September, with EUR414m in net inflows. The top three selling funds are JPMorgan Investment Funds – Global Income (EUR639m), the Franklin Upper Tier Floating Rate Fund (EUR612m), and the Shares Core S&P 500 ETF (EUR560.5m).Lastly, Lipper reports that in October, according to initial estimates, bond funds are estimated to have been the best-selling asset class, followed by diversified funds (EUR3.2bn) and equity funds (EUR1.8bn).

Karoumpis succeeds François-Régis Montazel, who is leaving the firm at the end of the year to go independent, the private banking group says in a statement. Régis Montazel will continue to collaborate with the Luxembourg affiliate of EFG, and will remain a member of the board of directors at the firm. Karoumpis has since 2007 served as head of private banking & wealth management at the Luxembourg affiliate of Credit Suisse. In addition to his Luxembourg activities, he will assist EFG International to create affiliates in Athenes and Cyprus, a statement adds.

Neuberger Berman Group has hired Celine Dufetel as its new head of client service, effective immediately.She joins Neuberger Berman from management consultant McKinsey & Company, where she was a partner and served as leader of the North American Asset Management Practice. Celine Dufetel, who will report to chief operating officer and global head of distribution Andrew Komaroff, succeeds Lori Holland, who has taken a senior position on Neuberger Berman’s Multi-Asset Class (MAC) team.

Since the star manager joined Janus Capital Group on 26 September, his new fund has attracted about USD430m in new subscriptions, equivalent to less than 1% of the USD50bn which have fled his old fund in the past two months. However, these flows brought Janus its first month of net subscriptions in over three years in October, according to Morningstar. Other asset management firms are benefiting from the departure of Gross. Although it is impossible to know where subscriptions are coming from, Vanguard Group and TCW Group have posted record inflows to their bond funds in October. Dodge & Cos, BlackRock and DoubleLine Capital have also had massive inflows.

Beck will join the US team dedicated to wealth management advising, and will oversee sales through wirehouse channels and Merrill Lynch sales channels from January 2015. As part of a reshuffle of its sales teams, BlackRock has decided to separate its sales team dedicated to private clients into two separate groups: one dedicated to wirehouses, and the other to independent brokers, from January 2015. Beck had previously been managing director at JP Morgan Chase, where he was responsible for overseeing key relationships for J.P. Morgan Funds globally.
Sweden’s East Capital, a specialist in emerging markets, plans to launch a new fund focusing on global frontier markets, expected in mid-December 2014. To this end, the fund management group which has been investing in emerging and frontier markets for nearly two decades, has broadened its investment universe to include Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. East Capital already manages around USD 450m in regional frontier assets. As part of East Capital’s Frontier Markets strategy and the enlargement of its investment universe, the company will open a Dubai office (pending regulatory approval) in the first half of 2015, which will serve as a research hub for the region but also to service local investors.

Despite strong attention focused on allocation to alternatives by Asian sovereign wealth funds (SWFs), their allocations to equities continued to dominate through year-end 2013. This is one of the key findings of a new Cerulli Associates report titled Institutional Asset Management in Asia 2014: Stepping Up Their Game.For instance, 70% of Temasek Holdings’ investments are in listed securities according to the Singapore firm’s latest annual report, while Korea Investment Corporation’s exposure to equities has been increasing steadily, from 41.8% in 2010 to 48.5% in 2013. Another example is Singapore’s GIC Pte Ltd. Its equities allocation jumped from 38% in March 2009 to 48% by end-March 2014. From its mandate, it is clear that equities will remain the dominant asset class.
Le rythme annuel de l’inflation en France a progressé en octobre à 0,5%, après avoir atteint son plus bas niveau depuis cinq ans le mois précédent (0,3%), annonce jeudi l’Insee. Sur le seul mois d’octobre, les prix à la consommation sont restés stables, après une baisse de 0,4% en septembre. L’indice des prix harmonisé IPCH est également resté stable sur le mois et a augmenté de 0,5% sur douze mois, après +0,4% en septembre. L’inflation sous-jacente, stable en octobre, est en revanche nulle sur un an pour le deuxième mois consécutif.
La banque centrale sud-coréenne a laissé ses taux d’intérêt inchangés, le fruit d’une première décision prise à l’unanimité depuis juin, et l’institut d'émission n’a pas laissé entrevoir de nouvel assouplissement monétaire dans un horizon proche après les deux abaissements intervenus cette année. Le groupe financier de Taiwan a signé le rachat du gérant américain Conning, basé dans le Connecticut, au fonds new-yorkais Aquiline. Le Mécanisme européen de stabilité a engagé Sébastien Levy comme responsable des investissements et de la trésorerie.
