Le danois Sparinvest a annoncé le 1er mars avoir acquis, pour un montant non divulgué, Atrium Asset Management, la filiale de gestion de portefeuille d’Atrium Partners qui gère deux fonds de petites capitalisations européennes d’un encours total de 55 millions d’euros. Il s’agit du Atrium Value Partners SICAV - European Small Cap (domicilié au Luxembourg) et du Atrium Value Partners – Europa Small Cap (domicilié au Danemark). Les deux gérants d’Atrium Asset Management Karsten Løngaard et Lisbeth Søgaard Nielsen rejoignent l’équipe Actions Value de Sparinvest dirigée par Jens Moestrup Rasmussen qui gère aujourd’hui 3,4 milliards d’euros.
Au 31 décembre, l’encours de Fortress Investment Group se situait à 44,6 milliards de dollars, soit 42 % de plus qu’un an plus tôt. Et son bénéfice distribuable avant impôt est ressorti pour l’ensemble de 2010 à 372 millions de dollars contre 126 millions. Quant au bénéfice net aux normes comptables GAAP hors versements aux dirigeants, il a bondi à 170 millions de dollars contre 43 millions en 2009 tandis que la perte nette aux normes GAAP attribuable aux porteurs d’actions de classe A, elle a gonflé à 285 millions de dollars contre 255 millions.Fortress précise avoir levé auprès de tierces parties 5,3 milliars de dollars de capital, dont 2,6 milliards faisaient partie de l’encours comptabilisé à fin décembre. Les 2,7 milliards restants sont des promesses d’investissements qui n’ont pas encore été appelées.Enfin, le gestionnaire alternatif souligne que, sur les 5,3 milliards de dollars nouvellement levés, 3,1 milliards correspondent à des fonds crédit de private equity, 447 millions à des fonds crédit de hedge funds et 1,7 milliard à des hedge funds liquides.

Les dirigeants des banques de Wall Street ont conservé des rémunérations de plusieurs millions de dollars, y compris chez celles dont les résultats n’ont pas été aussi bons qu’attendu, rapporte Les Echos. Ignis Asset Management is to launch the Ignis Absolute Return Government Bond Fund at the end of March. The fund will target net returns of 2% to 3% per annum in excess of cash2 by actively trading a portfolio of global government bonds and currencies.The fund will be managed by head of rates, Russ Oxley, and chief economist, Stuart Thomson, and will be the first retail proposition from Ignis’s rates team, which manages in excess of GBP28 billion on behalf of institutional investors.The fund, a Luxembourg-domiciled UCITS III SICAV, will invest primarily in government bonds, but will also take long and short positions in money market instruments and derivatives. Foreign currency exposure will be limited to 25%.

According to a lawsuit filed in December and amended this week, the management firm and a group of funds which it managed are claimed to have ignored warning signs on several occasions which suggested that Madoff’s activities might be fraudulent. Tremont and its affiliates are accused of having allowed more than USD4bn in assets to be transferred to Madoff over a 15-year period.

The top 10 hedge funds made USD28bn for clients in the second half of 2010, according to the Financial Times which cites data calculated by LCH Investments, an investor in hedge funds run by Edmond de Rothschild Group. This is USD2bn more than the net profits of Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, Barclays and HSBC combined, underlines the newspaper. The 10 funds have earned a total of USD182bn for investors since they were created, with George Soros making USD35bn for clients – after all fees – since he set up his Quantum Fund in 1973.

State Street a annoncé le 28 février qu’il avait été renommé pour un nouveau mandat de cinq ans par le Pension Protection Fund (PPF) à compter du 1er janvier 2011.Le mandat, qui concerne un encours de 5 milliards de livres, porte depuis 2005 sur la fourniture de services de conservation et d’administration. Il a été renforcé en 2008 avec l’analyse des risques et la valorisation indépendante des dérivés OTC. Le PPF a ajouté dans le cadre du nouveau mandat les services de prêts de titres.
Ignis Asset Management va lancer fin mars le fonds Ignis Absolute Return Government Bond. Ce nouveau produit, une sicav Ucits III luxembourgeoise domiciliée à Luxembourg, iblera un rendement net de 2 % à 3 % par an au dessus du cash2 par le biais d’une gestion active d’un portefeuille d’obligations gouvernementales mondiales et de devises. Le fonds sera géré par Russ Oxley, responsable des taux, et Stuart Thomson, chef économiste. Il s’agit du premier fonds de l’équipe taux d’Ignis qui sera disponible aux particuliers. Cette équipe gère plus de 28 milliards de livres pour le compte d’investisseurs institutionnels. Ignis Absolute Return Government Bond sera investi principalement dans des obligations gouvernementales, mais prendra aussi des positions longues et courtes sur des instruments monétaires et des dérivés. L’exposition aux devises étrangères sera limitée à 25 %. Ce fonds sera également commercialisé en Europe continentale auprès des investisseurs professionnels.
Les actifs sous gestion et administration de la Banque cantonale de Genève (BCGE) s'élevaient fin 2010 à 18,2 milliards de francs suisses, grâce notamment à l’arrivée de nouveaux clients, contre 18,05 milliards de francs un an plus tôt, a indiqué la banque le 1er mars.Le résultat net a reculé de 21,2% à 56,4 millions de francs suisses, en raison de charges exceptionnelles (projet de transfert d’infrastructures informatiques pour un montant de 10 millions de francs et provisionnement de risques entreprises et trade finance pour un montant de 30 millions de francs).
