Les actionnaires de la société de gestion norvégienne Skagen ont nommé Simen Vier Simensen au conseil d’administration pour remplacer Tor Dagfinn Veen qui démissionne pour se consacrer à d’autres activités.Citoyen norvégien, Simen Vier Simensen a passé 30 ans chez McKinsey où il a occupé différents postes à responsabilité.
Santander Asset Management (Santander AM) a promu José Antonio Montero de Espinosa au poste de directeur de la gestion actions, rapporte Funds People. Il remplace ainsi Ivan Martin Aranguez, parti fin septembre pour démarrer un projet personnel (lire NewsManagers du 25 septembre 2014). José Antonio Montero de Espinosa travaille depuis 15 ans au sein de Santander AM. Jusqu’à aujourd’hui, il assurait la gestion des fonds Santander Acciones Euro (Santander Euro Equity), Santander AM Euro Equity et Santander Mixto Europa.
Firmino Morgado, qui gérait depuis 2008 les fonds FF-Iberia (1,7 milliard d’euros d’encours) et FF European Aggressive (400 millions d’euros d’encours), a décidé de quitter Fidelity Worldwide Investment, rapporte Funds People. Le taux de couverture moyen des fonds de pension d’entreprises américaines a reculé au mois de septembre de 0,2 point de pourcentage pour s'établir à 90,8%, son plus bas niveau depuis août 2013, selon les données communiquées par BNY Mellon Investment Strategy & Solutions Group. Depuis le début de l’année, le taux de couverture affiche un recul de 5,3 points de pourcentage.Les actifs des fonds ont diminué de 2,7% durant le mois sous revue, plus vite que les engagements qui ont reculé dans le même temps de 2,6%. Le taux d’actualisation a augmenté de 20 points de base en septembre à 4,32% pour les entreprises notées Aa.
Après laRépublique Tchèque en 2010 et le Maroc en 2013, la Croatie constitue une nouvelle étape dans le développement des activités de banque privée de Société Générale.Sa filiale croate Splitska Banka propose désormais à sa clientèle privée une gamme de produits plus large, comprenant des services de diagnostic patrimonial, de conseil en investissement et une expertise en matière de produits structurés, «encore peu présente dans ce pays», précise le communiqué.Les clients de Splitska Banka seront accueillis dans deux centres de banque privée situés à Zagreb et Split.
iShares, le pôle ETF de BlackRock, va lancer une gamme d’ETF qui va permettre aux investisseurs d’accéder à un indice qui a été repondéré en fonction de critères autres que la capitalisation boursière, anticipe Financial News. Cela sera la première fois que le géant américain offrira ce type de produits en Europe, une gamme de ce genre existant déjà aux Etats-Unis. Pour cette nouvelle offre, iShares a choisi MSCI comme fournisseur d’indices.

Le groupe allemand Deka a annoncé le 2 octobre le lancement de deux nouveaux fonds dans la famille des Basis Strategie. Le premier, Deka-Basis Strategie Flexibel (DE000DK2EAR4), est un fonds diversifié qui peut investir dans toutes les classes d’actifs partout dans le monde, tout en utilisant différents instruments financiers (dérivés, ETF...).Le second, Deka-Basis Strategie Aktien (DE000DK2EAG7), investit dans les actions des marchés développés sur la base d’une analyse fondamentale des données des entreprises qui prend également en compte la qualité du management et les perspectives de l’entreprise en fonction de sa situation dans le cycle. Les commissions de gestion s'élèvent à 1,25% par an pour les deux fonds.
AEW Europe a annoncé le 3 octobre l’acquisition de l’Admiralitätskontor, un immeuble de bureaux situé à Hambourg, pour le compte du Fonds Europe Value Investors (EVI). Le Fonds a acquis cet actif à un prix net de 17,7 millions d’euros pour un taux de rendement de 5.9%. EVI, structuré sous la forme d’un « German Spezialfund », a levé 101 millions d’euros lors de son premier closing en juin 2014. Le Fonds continue à lever des capitaux et envisage un second closing d’ici la fin de l’année. EVI devrait investir près de 700 millions d’euros dans des actifs de bureaux majoritairement situés en Allemagne, en France et au Royaume-Uni. D’une surface totale de 8 140 m², l’Admiralitätskontor dispose également de 86 places de parking. L’immeuble est actuellement occupé à 82% par plusieurs locataires.
Le fonds Dynamic Asset Allocation de Baring Asset Management a subi des rachats de 5,5 milliards de livres depuis le départ de son fondateur et directeur des investissements, Percival Stanion, annoncé le 13 août, rapporte Financial News. Barings estime toutefois que le pire est passé. Le fonds affichait un encours de 3,6 milliards de livres fin septembre, contre 9,1 milliards de livres en août.
La société de gestion alternative canadienne Alignvest Management Corporation, basée à Toronto, va prochainement ouvrir un bureau à Londres, révèle Financial News. L’entreprise a été créée il y a trois ans par Reza Satchu, ancien analyste chez Merrill Lynch et associé de la société de capital investissement américaine Fenway Partners, et Lee Lau, co-fondateur de fabricant de puce informatique ATI Technologies. Son équipe comprend également Tim Hodgson, un ancien banquier de Goldman Sachs. Reza Satchu, Tim Hodgson ainsi que le directeur financier d’Alignvest, Sanjil Shah, seront tous trois directeurs de la nouvelle structure londonienne, baptisée Alignvest UK Management Limited. Sur la base des comptes publiés des vingt principales plateformes de conseil au Royaume-Uni, le secteur a terminé l’année 2013 sur une perte cumulée de l’ordre de 6 millions de livres, sous l’impact conjugué de la baisse des marges et de la hausse des coûts, selon une enquête réalisée par Altus Consulting.Le rendement moyen des actifs gérés sur les plateformes est tombé à son plus bas niveau historique de 34 points de base, contre plus de 50 points de base en 2010 et 80 points de base en 2006. Les coûts pour l’ensemble du secteur des plateformes ont augmenté l’an dernier d’environ 60 millions de livres et seulement deux plateformes parmi les 20 premières ont réussi à réduire leur facture. Les plateformes étaient supposées être les grandes gagnantes de la réglementation RDR. Ces statistiques suggèrent que la victoire n’est manifestement pas encore au rendez-vous. Selon Altus Consulting, la tendance ne devrait pas se modifier fondamentalement en 2015. While continuing to serve as CEO for the Asia-Pacific region, Laskowitz will now co-manage a new global solutions division from New York, which has about USD150bn in assets under management in multi-asset class portfolios, with teams in the United States, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong. He will be assisted by Michael O’Brien, who has also been appointed to the global solutions division. Laskowitz will therefore have offices in New York and Hong Kong. “Jed is used to working between Asia, London and New York,” a spokesperson tells Asian Investor. JP Morgan AM meanwhile announces the appointment of Michael Falcon as head of the mutual fund activity for Asia. Falcon, currently based in New York, will be based in Hong Kong from January 2015. He will take over the duties of Laskowitz, to whom he will report directly.

Their mission will be to take charge of the marketing and distribution team for France and internationally. Surjon and Cazenave have been with Axiom AI since its inception, and have contributed to its commercial growth signiifciantly at the Addax company as a third party marketer. Surjon and Cazenave founded the alternative management firm Addax AM, based in Paris and Chicago, in 2004 with Jean-Jacques Joulié and Jennifer Bahnick, and served as partner and CEO and partner responsible for development. The two previously worked together at the SG BAREP group from 1995 to 1999, before founding AIP/AIM with their historic partners, and then joining Crédit Agricole AM in 2000 when they sold it their firm.
The US asset management firm Neuberger Berman, which has USD257bn in assets under management as of the end of June, has announced that it has signed an agreement with Ramius LLC, an affiliate of Cowen Group, to acquire its stake in the capital of Orchard Square Partners, a firm which manages a global long/short credit strategy. The operation, for an undisclosed sum, is expected to be completed on 31 December 2014.Orchard Square Partners has about USD475m in assets under management for insurance companies, institutions, family offices, high net worth individuals, foundations and endowments from North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Popescu, who has worked in commercial development at East Capital and Skandia Investment Group, will be responsible for French-speaking clients at the British asset management boutique. The firm has assets under management of GBP14.7bn in British, US, European, Asia ex Japan, Japan, global and emerging market equities, according to its website. It has offices in London, Singapore, New York and Boston. Popescu most recently served at Hilbert Investment Solutions. That firm, a speicalist in the design and distribution of investment solutions based on structured products, is reportedly in the advanced stages of talks with a European institutional investor to create a strategic partnership with a view to acquiring a more industrial dimension.

It will be the first time that the US giant offers this type of product in Europe, though a product range of this type already exists in the United States. For this new range, iShares has selected MSCI as an index provider.

The average returns on assets under management for platforms has fallen to an all-time low of 34 basis points, compared with more than 50 basis points in 2010, and 80 basis points in 2006. Costs for the platform sector overall increased last year by about GBP60m, and only two platforms out of the top 20 succeeded in reducing their costs. Platforms were meant to be the big winners out of RDR legislation. The statistics suggest that the victory is not yet won. According to Altus Consulting, the trend is not expected to change fundamentally in 2015. Several platforms are investing in new technologies as the price war continues.
Fund flows signaling ‘risk-off’ going into the final months of 2014 as the end of QE3 looms
Investors who began 2014 looking out at what they believed to be the sunlit uplands of accelerating global growth are, going into the final three months of the year, wondering if they’d been looking at a mirage. Most of the uplands they had pinned their hopes on, ranging from Europe’s modest recovery to Japan’s aggressive efforts to reflate its economy, are swathed in clouds and another cold front – the end of the US Federal Reserve’s current quantitative easing program (QE3) – is bearing down.
Les volumes investis en immobilier d’entreprise en France s’élèvent à 17,5 milliards d’euros sur neuf mois au 1er octobre 2014, en nette croissance par rapport à 2013 (+33%), selon les statistiques publiées lundi par Immostat. Les chiffres du troisième trimestre ont été gonflés par deux grandes ventes, celles des immeubles parisiens «Le Madeleine» et le «32 Blanche» pour respectivement 425 et 267 millions d’euros.
Après six années de récession qui ont détruit le quart de sa richesse, la Grèce prévoit un retour à la croissance, selon le projet de budget 2015 du gouvernement grec. Athènes table sur une croissance du PIB de 0,6% cette année et de 2,9% en 2015, en ligne avec les objectifs fixés dans le cadre du plan d’aide international de 240 milliards d’euros mis en place par l’Union européenne et le Fonds monétaire international (FMI). La prévision d’un excédent budgétaire primaire (hors service de la dette) de 2,9% en 2015 a été confirmée. Le projet de budget table aussi sur une baisse à 22,5% du taux de chômage en 2015 contre 24,5% cette année et une dette représentant 168% du PIB contre 175% cette année.
