The Fidelity Eurozone Select Real Estate fund has raised EUR300m in funds in 2017, the asset management firm Fidelity announced on 31 January. The new capital is largely coming from European institutional investors based in Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Ireland. Nearly two thirds of funds raised have already been invested, including four properties with average returns at purchase of 5.5%.The Fidelity Eurozone Select Real Estate fund is a real estate range dedicated ecxlusively to institutional investors. It invests in the euro zone market, privileging opportunities for actively-managed revenues. The fund has developed mostly in France and Germany, and is increasingly focusing on markets in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg for future investments.

It will also have 40 parking spaces. The project will be constructed around interior courtyards and gardens. Delivery for the compex is slated for first quarter 2021.
PremiaLab, which is a fintech platform dedicated to quantitative risk premia and smart beta strategies, on Wednesday announced the opening in Paris of its European headquarters. The new office aims to accelerate the development of PremiaLab in the European market. The business is also planning to launch a product range in the United States in 2018, to continue to increase its global presence.The PremiaLab platform allows institutional investors access to data about systematic strategies from a large number of financial institutions quickly and efficiently. The platform facilitates access to the fast-growing market for risk premia and smart beta products.The fintech, based in Hong Kong, was created by the former investment bankers Pierre Trécourt and Adrien Gélio. It launched its platform in 2016 and its expansion in Europe followed its success in the Asian market, a statement explains. The platform has formed numerous parnerships with investment banks, including Barclays, Credit Suisse, Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking, and asset management firms such as Nikko Asset Management.The PremiaLab platform already includes information concerning about USD250bn in assets under management. The Finnish asset management firm Evli Fund Management Company Ltd has appointed Tomas Hildebrandt, a specialist in institutional management, to be responsible for French investors. He will be present in Paris four days out of five. Evli has been present in France for three years, as part of a partnership with La Compagnie Financière Jacques Cœur, a third-party marketing firm, which promotes funds to institutional investors. Six funds are registered in France.Hildebrandt is a senior portfolio manager for institutional clients. He is a member of the asset alloction team for Evli, and has also worked as a market strategist. Hildebrandt joined Evli in 1996 and has been working in financial markets for nearly 30 years.Evli Fund Management Company Ltd, a division of Evli Bank PLC, is the fourth-largest fund management firm in Finland, with a 6.6% market share. The asset management firm has grown internationally and has turned naturally to the peripheral Scandinavian countries, particularly Sweden.The ambition at Evli is to offer a wider, not only Scandinavian range of clients expertise and funds in equity and corporate bond long-only strategies.The Finnish company has signed partnerships with local distributors in France, as well as Benelux, Spain, Portugal, Italy and South America. Eaton Vance Management (International) Limited (EVMI), a subsidiary of Eaton Vance Corp., announced an agreement to hire a five-person global fixed income team led by Astrid Vogler that was formerly employed by Oechsle International Advisors, LLC (Oechsle), a privately held investment manager. The team joins Eaton Vance Management’s Global Income group, which is co-led by Michael Cirami, CFA, and Eric Stein, CFA. Ms. Vogler joins as vice president and lead portfolio manager of EVMI, reporting to Messrs. Cirami and Stein. Roman Kostal joins as vice president and portfolio manager, reporting to Ms. Vogler. The team currently advises approximately $ 830 million and will continue to be based in Frankfurt, Germany. “The hiring of the former Oechsle fixed income team in Frankfurt is a meaningful extension of our global fixed income investment management and client service capabilities,” said Payson F. Eaton Vance Management (International) Limited, filiale du groupe américain Eaton Vance, a annoncé, hier, le renforcement de son équipe obligataire avec le recrutement de cinq nouveaux collaborateurs à Francfort, en Allemagne. Cette équipe, qui conseille environ 830 millions de dollars d’actifs, est dirigée par Astrid Vogler, ancienne collaboratrice de la société de gestion Oechsle International Advisors. Ces cinq personnes vont rejoindre le département Global Income d’Eaton Vance, co-dirigé par Michael Cirami et Eric Stein. Astrid Volger devient ainsi « vice-president » et gérante de portefeuille principale d’Eaton Vance Management (International), rattachée directement à Michael Cirami et Eric Stein.En parallèle, Roman Kostal arrive en qualité de « vice president » et de gérant de portefeuille. La société de gestion suisse Patrimonium, qui a célébré son dixième anniversaire en 2017, affiche une croissance soutenue. Elle a passé le cap des 3 milliards de francs sous gestion et compte plus de 50 collaborateurs, contre 2 milliards de francs d’encours et 28 employés en 2014, rapporte L’Agefi suisse. «Notre force est d’être totalement indépendants avec une situation financière très solide. Nous vivons aujourd’hui un excellent momentum avec plus de 3 milliards de francs sous gestion. L’objectif est de progresser idéalement jusqu’entre 5 et 10 milliards sous gestion mais nous privilégions toujours la qualité avant la quantité. Patrimonium va se consolider en Suisse et des acquisitions ne sont pas exclues. A plus long terme, je serais ravi de pouvoir créer des succursales dans le monde, par exemple en Asie et étendre notre savoir-faire à d’autres marchés», commente Christoph Syz, CEO et cofondateur de la société, dans les colonnes du quotidien suisse.Patrimonium cherche à se développer dans ses quatre classes d’actifs en parallèle; l’immobilier, les infrastructures, le private equity et le private debt. «Nous donnons la priorité aux actifs qui génèrent un cash-flow stable et durable. En ce moment, il y a en particulier un momentum dans le secteur du private debt, principalement du côté de l’Allemagne. A l’occasion de la publication des résultats de l’exercice 2017 (NewsManagers du 31 janvier 2018), Bernhard Hodler, le nouveau CEO du groupe Julius Baer qui prend la succession de Boris Collardi, a présenté mercredi les priorités stratégiques du groupe suisse. Le nouveau responsable a notamment indiqué qu’il misait sur la continuité. «Je suis convaincu que nous déployons une stratégie judicieuse, centrée sur les «sweet spots». Je m’explique: il est bien plus intéressant de se positionner sur l’interface avec la clientèle, et non pas au niveau des produit. J’entends par conséquent maintenir l’orientation stratégique du groupe mais avec un profil plus aiguisé et plus focalisé», a-t-il commenté dans les colonnes de L’Agefi suisse. Le responsable précise que ce «profil plus aiguisé» concerne notamment le traitement des marchés, servis jusqu’ici «de manière uniforme». «Cela n’est plus possible, compte tenu des changements qui sont intervenus. Autrefois, notre approche était axée sur les produits que nous pouvions exporter depuis la Suisse. Les mêmes produits pour les clients en Asie et en Amérique latine. Entretemps, la situation a changé car les avoirs de tous les clients sont fiscalisés, ce qui requiert un surcroît de compétences au niveau local, de leurs attentes, de leur situation fiscale et familiale et au niveau des produits. De ce fait nous faisons plus largement appel à des spécialistes dans les marchés sur lesquels vous voulons nous concentrer. Un changement que nous ne pouvons, bien sûr, par définition, pas mettre en place simultanément au sein de 200 marchés. D’où désormais une focalisation plus prononcée», explique Bernhard Hodler.
Carmignac envisage de lancer un fonds OEIC pour les investisseurs britanniques, rapporte Money Marketing. La société de gestion propose actuellement près de 20 fonds de droit luxembourgeois aux investisseurs britanniques, mais n’a pas encore lancé de fonds basé au Royaume-Uni. Carmignac a ouvert un bureau à Londres en 2012 dirigé par Maxime Carmignac, la fille du fondateur, Edouard. Sandra Crowl, membre du comité d’investissement, a indiqué que le groupe cherchait à bâtir une offre de fonds au Royaume-Uni, mais n’a pas donné davantage de détails sur ce projet.
Schroders a annoncé, ce 30 janvier, que Bill Casey et Nick Kissack, qui rejoindront la société de gestion le 5 février 2018 en provenance de Janus Henderson, deviendront co-gérants du fonds Schroder UK Alpha Plus à compter du 1er mars 2018. Cette double nomination est toutefois soumise à l’approbation de la FCA, le régulateur britannique. Bill Casey et Nick Kissack remplaceront ainsi Philip Matthews. Ce dernier se concentrera désormais exclusivement à la gestion du fonds Schroder UK Growth Fund. « Bill Casey et Nick Kissack travailleront avec Philip Matthews pour assurer une transition en douceur avant de reprendre la gestion du fonds », indique Schroders dans un communiqué.
Les deux tiers des femmes qui travaillent dans le secteur de la gestion d’actifs ont subi des comportements inappropriés au bureau, selon un sondage mené par City Hive et relayé par Financial News. Selon les réponses de 100 femmes qui travaillent à la City, 40 % indiquent avoir été victime de contact physique non sollicité au travail, tandis qu’un quart d’entre elles affirment avoir été « suivies ou harcelées » par des collègues masculins essayant de les convaincre de « sortir » avec eux après le travail.

L’intéressé travaillait avec Steven Cohen depuis près de 16 ans. Seetharam Gore a rejoint la société d’investissement Citadel à New York en qualité de « managing director ». Précédemment, Seetharam Gorre a travaillé pendant 12 ans chez SAC Capital, l’ancien hedge fund de Steven Cohen, en qualité de directeur de la technologie avant d’être nommé directeur des systèmes d’information de Point72 Asset Management en avril 2014.
La Banque cantonale de Lucerne (LUKB) a enregistré l’an dernier une collecte nette de 777 millions de francs. Les actifs sous gestion, qui ont également bénéficié d’un impact marchés positif de 734 millions de francs, sont ainsi passés de 28,16 milliards de francs fin 2016 à 29,7 milliards de francs à fin décembre 2017, a annoncé ce matin la banque cantonale.Le bénéfice net progresse de 6,4% à 198,4 millions de francs, avec un résultat d’exploitation en croissance de 2,3% à 214,7 millions malgré une forte augmentation des charges opérationnelles. «Nous avons profité d’une bonne situation de départ» et «les résultats dépassent nos propres attentes», indique la présidente Doris Russi Schurter, citée dans un communiqué.Le conseil d’administration va proposer aux actionnaires de relever le dividende de 50 centimes à 12 francs par action.
AEW a réalisé 4,5 milliards d’euros de transactions en Europe en 2017, dont 3,5 milliards d’euros d’acquisitions, a annoncé ce matin la filiale de gestion d’actifs immobiliers de Natixis IM. En 2016, les volumes avaient respectivement atteint 3,8 milliards et 3,2 milliards d’euros. Les actifs sous gestion d’AEW ont augmenté de 6% durant l’année 2017 pour atteindre près de 28 milliards d’euros au 31 décembre. En incluant les périmètres Asie et Etats-Unis d’AEW, le pôle de gestion d’actifs immobiliers de Natixis IM gère près de 60 milliards d’euros dans le monde.
La nouvelle Route de la soie (One Belt, One Road) prend de plus en plus des voies détournées. Les 124 milliards de dollars que la Chine est prête à mettre sur la table ne se contenteront pas d’irriguer l’Asie et un peu plus loin le continent africain et ses matières premières. La Chine a proposé début janvier aux pays du Celac (Amérique centrale et Caraïbes) d’être parties prenantes du projet. Pékin vient de proposer aussi une « Route polaire de la soie » dans un livre blanc, comme il se doit. Objectif : développer des voies maritimes devenus praticables avec le réchauffement climatique.
Escarmouche. La petite phrase du secrétaire au Trésor américain Steven Mnuchin à Davos le 24 janvier sur la nécessité d’un dollar faible (il s’est prononcé pour un dollar fort deux jours plus tard) a mis le feu aux poudres et suscité moult commentaires sur les marchés financiers. A près de 1,25, l’euro a poursuivi son raffermissement commencé en février 2017 à 1,05. L’impact de cette appréciation est à relativiser pour l’économie réelle de la zone euro. Le dollar représente moins de 17 % du panier pondéré des échanges commerciaux du taux de change effectif nominal (NEER en anglais) publié par la Banque centrale européenne. Le NEER s’est accru de 1 % sur le mois écoulé et se situe très loin de ses plus hauts de 2009, mais aussi de son niveau de début 2014, année d’un décrochage brutal de la devise européenne. Le dollar est avant tout la monnaie de facturation des importations de pétrole. Une forte dépréciation du billet vert pourrait générer un mouvement désinflationniste et compliquer un peu plus la tâche de la Banque centrale européenne pour atteindre son objectif d’inflation de 2 % (indice headline).
La capacité d’adaptation du prévisionniste est surprenante. Il faut dire que la prévision en économie, l’économie en général d’ailleurs, n’a rien d’une science exacte. C’est tout juste un art avec ses incertitudes, ses aléas, son doigt mouillé et parfois même ses grands prêtres. Quel conjoncturiste prévoyait en zone euro il y a un an 2,5 % de croissance du PIB en moyenne annuelle en 2017 ? Le « sondage des prévisionnistes professionnels » effectué par la BCE montre un consensus à 2,3 % pour 2018 et 1,9 % pour 2019. Il y a trois mois, les mêmes augures visaient 1,9 % et 1,7 %. Vu la marge d’erreur, pardon de révision, on a hâte d’être début 2019…
