The asset management firm is an affiliate of the Swedish bank HQ Bank, which was in enforced liquidation, and which has since been bought by Carnegie. In September, HQ Fonder managed SEK26bn in assets, of which SEK23.3bn were in equities funds.

The fund has a maximal capacity of EUR120m, half of which will be leverage. The fund follows Access Wohnen 1, with a volume of EUR100m. If necessary, the new fund may be scaled up to EUR250m, The new product will invest initially in 19 properties with 451 residential units, in nine German cities. It will be managed by alt+kelber Immobiliengruppe GmbH. Front-end fees are set at 5%, and the distribution for 2012 will be 6.25% of invested capital, before taxes. Distribution will increase gradually each year up to 7% in 2020.

p { margin-bottom: 0.08in; } Since 11 October, Nordea is no longer accepting further subscriptions from new clients or via new distribution partners for its Nordea 1 – European High Yield Bond Fund, managed by Henrik Østergaard (see Newsmanagers of 2 July 2009). Due to its performance and subscriptions, the fund, launched in 2002, now has over EUR1.4bn in assets, putting it near its upper capacity limit, based on an analysis of outlooks for the market of reference. Subscriptions will remain possible for investors who already hold shares in the fund. Nordea says that its US High Yield Bond Fund, managed in New York by MacKay Shields, has assets of USD550m, but that it is not yet approaching its capacity limit.
F&C Investments has launched a new fund to provide investors with a combination of capital growth and income from European equities. The Luxembourg domiciled F&C European Growth & Income SICAV fund is managed by Paras Anand, head of European equities, who also manages a UK OEIC fund focused on Europe ex. UK which adopted a growth and income strategy two years ago. The manager looks to blend a focused portfolio of blue-chip long-term investments where he believes the market is materially mis-pricing a company’s prospects. The fund invests across sectors but currently is heavily over weight financials. It currently holds investments in 13 countries with approximately 22% in the UK, 20% in the Netherlands, 14% in Germany and 11% in both France and Switzerland. The yield on the current portfolio is estimated to be approximately 3.7% compared with a benchmark yield of 3.2%. Dividends on the fund will be distributed quarterly. The fund, which has both a euro and sterling share class, was launched with client seeding of some GBP60 million (EUR69 million) and is initially registered for sale in Austria, Ireland, UK, Germany, Finland, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and Sweden.

The service will be headed by Alan Mudie, previously CEO of the Oyster Funds division, and former head of the Swiss activities of FundQuest (BNP Paribas group). SYZ Fund Research is a complement to the external manager selection and control activity for the bank’s fund family. For asset classes which are considered essential (European equities, global equities, asset allocation, absolute return, bonds), the banking group has developed its own expertise. However, the management of other asset classes is outsourced to external managers, making it possible to offer third-party funds to private banking clients and independent managers. A dedicated team in the Oyster division of the firm selects the managers. Due to its good results, it is now becoming a service in its own right, and will have its responsibilities extended. Syz Fund Research will also be responsible for detecting the winning trends of tomorrow, in order to create innovative new investment funds. The appointment of Mudie as head of the service means that he will be replaced as CEO by Xavier Guillon.
p { margin-bottom: 0.08in; } The Netherlands-based pension fund management firm Achmea Beleggingsfondsen Beheer B.V., an affiliate of the Achmea insurance group, has allocated a EUR230m mandate to invest in European bonds to Standish Mellon Asset Management Company LLC, an affiliate of BNY Mellon Asset Management. Previously, management of the unit trust was handled by a single asset manager, but Achmea has decided to appoint two more managers. Standish is the only foreign firm among the three. The mandate will be managed by the Standish team specialised in Euro bonds, directed by David Leduc, managing director of global fixed income.

The increase is primarily due to performance and currency effects, as the depreciation of the US dollar contributed USD4.5bn to assets under management. In addition, the US management firm says, long-term funds have posted net subscriptions, due to ETF/UIT and other passively-managed products. In September, Invesco concluded its sale of Echo Point Investment Management to Old Mutual, which resulted in a decline of USD1.5bn in equity assets. Assets in ETF/UIT and passive products increased to USD89.9bn as of 30 September, compared with USD79.3bn one month earlier.

Uwe Eberle was also recruited in September to direct the new Swiss offices of Van Eck. In addition, Manuela Joly and Philipp Schlegel joined Van Eck on 1 October, and will be in charge of developing the management firm’s presence in the European institutional market.

ABN Amro Private Banking will offer a selection of multi-management products, both offshore and in UCITS III-compliant formats, in the European Union. It is also offering an actively-managed portfolio which includes single strategy, single manager funds and multi-management single manager funds which can be used on a thematic basis. The products are available to clients of ABN Amro Private Banking in Belgium, Germany, France, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Hong Kong, Singapore and the Netherlands.

Les fonds de la société HQ Fonder ont accusé des rachats nets de 2,7 milliards de couronnes suédoises en septembre, après avoir vu sortir 968 millions en août, selon Dagens Nyheter. La société de gestion est filiale de la banque suédoise HQ Bank qui était en liquidation forcée et a été rachetée depuis par Carnegie. En septembre, HQ Fonder gérait 26 milliards de couronnes, dont 23,3 milliards dans des fonds actions.

D’après le palmarès de Citywire, note Expansión, Bestinver (4,4 milliards d’euros), la société de gestion du groupe espagnol Acciona, est le second gestionnaire mondial en matière de performance, grâce surtout à son fonds Bestinver Internacional, qui a gagné 33,5 % depuis l’effondrement de Lehman (15 septembre 2008). Le numéro un est le HMG Finance - Globetrotter, qui a signé un bond en avant de 44,7 %.
Alors que le secteur de la gestion d’actifs en Espagne perd des encours à toute vitesse, les fonds étrangers gagnent du terrain et résistent à la crise en Espagne, en surmontant les obstacles comme celui de la concurrence des dépôts bancaires, constate Cinco Días.Les gestionnaires étrangers ont lancé depuis de début de l’année 103 fonds, contre 54 pour la période correspondante de l’an dernier. Et ils totalisent désormais 21 % du volume des fonds espagnols contre 14 % en 2007.En 2009, leurs actifs sous gestion ont gonflé de 38 % sur 2008 et au premier semestre, ils ont encore augmenté de 28 % sur fin 2009 alors que ceux des fonds espagnols ont baissé de 3 % en 2009 et 11 % à fin juin.

Il fait suite au Access Wohnen 1, d’un volume de 100 millions d’euros. En cas de besoin, le volume du fonds pourra être porté à 250 millions d’euros.Le nouveau produit est investi au démarrage dans 19 actifs avec 451 logements répartis sur neuf villes allemandes et la gestion en est confiée à alt+kelber Immobiliengruppe GmbH.Le droit d’entrée est fixé à 5 % et la distribution pour 2012 sera de 6,25 % du capital investi, avant impôt. Le suisse Johannes Führ Vermögensverwaltungs AG (Bâle) a confié à l’allemand AmpegaGerling Investment GmbH le soin de lancer le Johannes Führ Mittelstands-Rentenfonds AMI, un fonds de droit allemand d’obligations de petites et moyennes entreprises qui a vu le jour le 12 octobre.L’objectif est de capter les rendements élevés que les PME doivent offrir pour se procurer des financements. Le portefeuille ne comportera au maximum que 20 % d’obligations non notées et chaque ligne sera plafonnée à 1 % de l’encours. Evoquant les problèmes des fonds immobiliers offerts au public en Allemagne, The Wall Street Journal rapporte que les deux produits pour lesquels la situation est la plus critique sont le DEGI Europa, parce qu’Aberdeen, qui a racheté DEGI, n’a plus le débouché naturel du réseau Dresdner Bank, et le Morgan Stanley P2 Value.Le journal souligne que, selon les milieux financiers, les fonds de fonds immobiliers Allianz Premium Immobilien et DJE Real Estate détiendraient 15 % de l’encours du P2 Value et veulent se faire rembourser dès que possible, ce qui risque de compromettre la survie du fonds.
Le 12 octobre, ComState (groupe Commerzbank) a fait admettre à la négociation sur le segment XTF de la plate-forme électronique Xetra de Francfort quatre ETF de droit luxembourgeois utilisant le bund future comme sous-jacent et des indices de stratégie développés par la Commerzbank sur ce contrat. Caddick and Vaughan will report to Keith Speck, head of multi-manager at Santander AM. They previously worked together at F&C until 2007.
