L’association allemande BVI des sociétés de gestion a annoncé le 21 mars la nomination au 1er août 2011 de Rolf Drees comme directeur des médias et de la communication en remplacement d’Andreas Fink, décédé en décembre d’une crise cardiaque à 47 ans.L’impétrant est encore patron de la recherche et de la communication «marchés des capitaux» chez WGZ Bank. Il a auparavant passé 14 ans chez Union Investment.
Le gestionnaire d’actifs munichois BayernInvest, filiale à 100 % de la BayernLB, annonce avoir terminé 2010 avec un encours record de 33,1 milliards d’euros contre 29,4 milliards un an plus tôt, grâce principalement à un gonflement de 13,1 % des actifs de ses fonds institutionnels, à 26,2 milliards d’euros d’euros.D’autre part, le bénéfice avant transfert à la maison-mère a gonflé de 54 %, également à un niveau record, qui n’a pas été précisé plus avant.Pour 2011, BayernInvest compte développer ses deux activités principales, la gestion d’actifs et les services de Master-KAG (administration et comptabilité de fonds pour des tiers) tout en abordant le marché des family offices et de la multigestion.
Selon l’étude sur les frais des fonds italiens menée par «Plus24» avec Interactive Data InvestOnline, les sociétés de gestion reversent à leurs distributeurs une part de plus en plus importante de leurs revenus. Ainsi, en 2010, sur 2 milliards d’euros de commissions de gestion encaissées, plus de 1,6 milliard a été rétrocédé aux réseaux de distribution, qui souvent se trouvent être les propriétaires des sociétés de gestion. Cela représente 80 %, soit une forte hausse par rapport aux 71,4 % de 2009 et aux 73,1 % de 2008. Parmi les plus généreuses avec leurs distributeurs figurent les sociétés de gestion contrôlées par les banques, note l’hebdomadaire italien. Ainsi, Eurizon Capital, détenue par Intesa Sanpaolo, rétrocède 82,4 % en moyenne des commissions enregistrées, avec des pointes à 91,7 % sur certains produits. Amundi, de son côté, occupe les trois premières places du podium du classement des rétrocessions les plus fortes par produits : 92,55 % pour Amundi Pacific Equity, 92,11 % pour Amundi USA Equity et 91,94 % pour Amundi Global Emerging Equity.
Selon les informations de Financial News, la banque centrale italienne, Banca d’Italia, tente de bloquer la vente de Pioneer, la société de gestion d’UniCredit, à un groupe étranger. Elle a proposé que les fondateurs d’UniCredit, actionnaires à seulement de 12 % de la banque mais dont l’influence est importante, soutiennent le rapprochement de Pioneer avec Eurizon Capital, filiale d’Intesa Sanpaolo.

Danske Invest prépare le lancement des premiers hedge funds coordonnés au Danemark, rapporte Hedgeweek.Il s’agirait de deux hedge funds au format Ucits III, le premier, un fonds actions long/short domicilié au Luxembourg, le deuxième, un fonds en devises domicilié au Danemark. Les deux nouveaux véhicules devraient être lancés au deuxième trimestre 2011.

Assets in funds available for public sale in Belgium increased 2.2% to EUR127.03bn, according to figures from the Belgian asset management association (BeAMA). Market effects were responsible for the increase in net assets in the industry. Variable revenue funds are the cause of the development, with net subscriptions of EUR120m and gains of EUR2.93bn. For pure and mixed equities funds, Belgium followed the European trend in 2010, with an upward movement. However, Belgian bond funds were down in 2010 (though they rose in Europe), while net assets in money market funds rose in Belgium, but fell in Europe.

The minister of economic development, Elvira Nabioullina, soon after announced that the fund may have up to USD10bn in assets.“In the first year, capitalisation of USD2bn is planned, from budget surpluses. In the following five years, the fund will reach USD10bn,” she announced, cited by the Ria Novosti news agency.

Daniel Farley, head of allocation strategies for institutional clients at State Street Global Advisors (SSgA), says that Asian investors are using the asset class to develop controlled exposure to some countries in the region, Asian Investor reports. The Asian region was home to 218 ETFs as of the end of December, with assets of USD84.1bn, far behind the 1,663 ETFs available in Europe, with USD318.5bn in assets. State Street estimates that interest in ETFs is related to their liquidity, transparency, and easier exposure to assets which are sometimes difficult to access, such as equities listed in China.

Hedge funds should accept higher taxes in London and stop threatening to move elsewhere, according to Michael Farmer, a Conservative party donor who runs the near-USD1bn Red Kite metals hedge funds. “If one is a citizen and your country’s having a tough time, you pay your taxes and that’s it – although rather reluctantly if they are not spending it wisely,” he told the Financial Times.

The proposal was published on 21 March in a 172-page document. The proposals are open to consultation until May, after which time the law will be changed, most likely during summer. “Shareholders should receive all the information about the sums spent by businesses in acquisition bids, and consulting commissions represent a significant portion of those amounts,” the Takeover Panel says. Commissions paid by the predator and the target businesses to bankers, lawyers, consultants and communication advisers are included.
