Candriam finished 2018 with assets of €7.07bn in Italy, virtually stable compared with €7.6bn at the end of 2017. Over five years, its assets have grown by 207% in Italy, compared with a 70% growth across Europe, a statement says. “Italy thus stands out as one of the most strategic countries for development at Candriam,” a statement released in Italy says. Global assets under management by Candriam total €115bn. 70% of assets under management by Candriam in Italy come frominstitutional investors, while 30% are fromdistribution networks. In 2018, 75.8% of inflows went to distribution networks, through seven agreements with major players such as MPS, Deutsche Bank Wealth Management, Curich Italia, Cordusio SIM, SudTirol Bank and Banca Consulia. In its institutional activities, as of the end of 2018, Candriam had 27 mandates under management for pension funds, retirement planning institutions, and banking foundations. Since the start of this year, the firm has won four new institutional management mandates (Fondenergia, Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze and Banco Popolare), and has signed a new agreement with a “major distribution player.” Early this year, Candriam added to its Italian teams, with the appointment of Andrea Remartini as head of advising in Italy. In 2018, the Italian team appointed Daniela Usai as head of private banking for Italy, and Emanuele Colombo as deputy head of the Italian office.
